Frontiers Friday #92. Random Currents
Every now and then, Frontiers Friday takes a turn to random and timely stuff. This week, some new stuff from my desk and more.
And don't forget. Today's the last day to register for the Deliberate Practice Web-Based Workshop with Scott Miller and I. See below for more.
🎧 New Podcast Interview on Mad in Norway
What a treat to have this chat with my Norwegian friend, Birgit Valla. Here, we geeked out on what I found in my doctoral dissertation on highly effective therapists (as well as what I didn't find), and a truckload of other related topics.
I also recommend you check out her and David Prescott's book, Beyond Best Practice. Birgit is on fire.
✍️ New from My Desk: Solving for Pattens
I wrote the first draft to this more than a year ago, and was alittle hesitant to publish this. Felt somewhat self-indulgent initially. But maybe this might be useful to you, so I finally put my head down to complete this piece. Tell me what you think. My Successful Cases:
My Unsuccessful Cases:
🎁 Online Webinar on the Language of Change
My buddy in Singapore, S. B. Vik is running a motivational interviewing webinar on 24th of Jun 730pm (GMT+8).
🎁 New Webinar on Deliberate Practice.
In this recent recorded webinar, Scott and I talk about all things deliberate practice, as well as a Q&A segment. We also talked about a new framework that will be featured in the upcoming book, The Field Guide to Better Results:
Diifferences Between Therapists (1:50)
Development of Expertise (3:50)
Clinical Practice vs Deliberate Pracitce (5:25)
Deliberate Practice and ZPD (10:00)
The 4 Pillars of DP (11:00) The Taxonomy of Deliberate Practice Activities Worksheet (15:20) The OPL Framework (from the new book, The Field Guide) (16:48)
Q&A (23:50)
⏸ Words Worth Contemplating:
“Find one solution that solves many problems without creating a new one.”
~ Attributed to Wendell Berry.
p/s: 1. My friend Steve Carroll is looking for therapists who are ignited by deliberate practice to join his private practice in Geelong, VIC, Aus.
pp/s: 2. My other pal, Duane Smith is also inviting psychologists to join the team where I practice in WA, Aus. Drop me an email if you are interested.
Reflection: When was the last time you zoomed out and look at your collective caseload? Do you see any patterns?
LAST DAY!
Scott Miller and I are now all set for our 5th cohort of the Deliberate Practice Web-Based Workshop, which kicks off on 6th of June 2022. You'd be sent practical content every Mondays and Fridays. during the 10-week period of the course. Scott and I, and the rest of the community will be there walking through this deep learning journey.
You can go at your own pace. Plus--this is a BIG PLUS--you'd have a LIFETIME ACCESS to the course. Yep, no monthly subscription fee. When we update any of the content, which we are likely to given that we are now writing a follow-up book to Better Results, called The Field Guide..., you'd also get the latest in the course.
Registration is now open to a limit of 40 participants. (Why limit? Well, it's hard to manage a bigger group and we would lose an intimate connection if it was any bigger a group.)
Start Date: 6th of June 2022, 10-week program (cohort and self-paced)
Registration Ends: 3rd of June 2022.
USE THE FOLLOWING PROMO CODE AT THE CHECKOUT FOR AN EXCLUSIVE INSIDERS 20% OFF: DPVIP (Click here to preview the course. We've made some modules free to preview)
