Bookworm: Unlocking the Emotional Brain by Bruce Ecker, Robin Tic and Lauren Hulley (2012)
Ok, the title is little cheesy to my liking, but this book by Ecker and two of his colleagues, is one of the book that I've been returning to over the last 7 years.
I like how coherence approach is voiced in the conversation of therapy in an experiential not "explanation" way, particular the activation of one's emotional "truths" or function of a client in distress. I've seen a few of the therapy videos of Bruce Ecker (some of them appear as case studies in this book), and found it really useful in my thinking.
Also, this book addresses something that I haven't found other areas studies in therapy do, which is to integrate the role of memory reconsolidation. In chapter 6, the authors did a good job of seeing the larger pattern involved in various treatment models like EMDR, EFT, Interpesonal neurobiology, attachment-based work, etc.
When I was working to deepen my emotional experiencing with clients in my deliberate practice efforts, this book has been one of my go-to resource.
Article: If you are looking for a taster of the book above, here's a short Networker article.
