We Are All Homeschoolers Now
A Home-Brewed Resource
For Practitioners and Their Clients
Since the birth of our first child, I've always been interested in the "idea" of homeschooling. I stress, it was only an idea. I was thinking more along the lines of grafting what i can learn from homeschooling or "unschooling" principles and supplement traditional schooling. (I've always believed school was as much as for the kids and the parents.)
Like it or not, we are all homeschoolers now. As a recent article states, this pandemic “will bring about an education reevaluation, if not revolution” of how our education system.
The last few weeks, my family and I, like many others around the world, have been in home isolation. My wife and younger child developed symptoms of fever and cough, and the only prudent thing to do was to self-isolate for the next few weeks. We don’t know if it’s COVID-19, as they do not meet the criteria for testing, but speaking to our GP on a telehealth consult was reassuring.
You can leave me for months on end on my own, and I'd be fine. But those of you with children will know, it's an entirely different situation when you have young ones bouncing off the walls, while you are trying to get stuff done.
I've compiled a list a smorgasbord of tips for parents. If you want to share this with you clients, feel free to give to send them this other link: https://darylchow.com/fullcircles/2020/04/04/homeschooling/ (This is my other blog site for the general public)
