How Do You Keep On Track With Your Development?
Taking Your Development to the Next Level
Hey , you are receiving this because you attended a workshop/consultancy/supervision with me in recent times. I want to keep you up to speed on some developments that you will find useful.
1. How is Your Professional Development Going?
I've been getting some queries about folks who are keen on receiving some form of follow-up support after the workshops.
Some of you might have missed out on putting your names for this.
Here's 3 pieces that are relevant to you:
A. Individual Coaching/Supervision:
As you would have learned from our trainings, the usual form of clinical supervision has little to no impact on actual client outcomes.
We have designed a system to close the gap, and price individualised professional development, coupled with the use of routine outcome measures to increase impact and performance.
I've gotten comments about practitioners using the Taxonomy of Deliberate Practice (TDPA; Chow & Miller, 2015) that Scott and I developed. This is where we can put it into good use, and use it as a targeted guide.
B. Group Coaching/Supervision:
A few dedicated agencies have pursued to do this as a collective. If you agency is keen, and can band together groups of 4-8, reach out to us and we can arrange something for you.
C. Agency Consultancy /Feedback Informed Treatment Implementation:
More and more agencies see the deep value of embedding a feedback informed culture in their service deliveries. It's a painful but highly rewarding process. It's a game-changer for management, funders, practitioners, and clients.
If any of the three is something you've missed out on in our previous communication, and are keen to take the next step to either have individual coach, group, or agency consultation, please let me know. Email: daryl@darylchow.com. In addition, there has never been a better time in history to use technologies like Skype and FaceTime to aid the geographical distances if needed.
At this stage, I can only make offer to existing participants, and as we are planning ahead, this opening is only 'til the 31st of Oct (Monday). If you miss this date, you will have to be on a wait-list, likely to the start of Feb 2017. This is due to time constrains, as I want to be 100% available for the existing folks.
I know, the above ideas aren't for everybody. Most of us are keen to stick to old ways. And that's ok.
But if you are mad or keen enough, drop me an email to set it up.
2. Resources

Tapping into the underbellies of social psychology and behavioral economics, here's a brilliant way to stick to your goals!
2. Let's Teach for Mastery - Not Test Scores:
This is Sal Khan, founder of Khan Academy. He states an important point about getting the basic grammar of any skills right, before proceeding to the next thing.
3. Improving Therapist Effectiveness: What doe and does not Work?
Scott Miller is at it again. Here he shares something both of us have been working hard to help clinicians with. Targeted, deliberate practice.
4. The Scandal of Clinical Supervision (Parts 1 and 2):
This comes right out of our Frontiers blog. Not everyone is going to agree with me about the points here.
5. Creating Movement in Your Life: I maintain two other blogs, Full Circles: Reflections on Living, and Mind of Health. I believe you might find this helpful to chew on.
